Climate Emergency Forum Hosts CIEIF

August 1, 2026 — On July 26, the Climate Emergency Forum hosted its 35-minute webinar featuring CIEIF’s Manager, Peter Jenkins, and its Science Advisor, Renaud de Richter, as the speakers.

Climate Intervention: Funding Impact Assessments

Jenkins and de Richter explained the kinds of interventions that CIEIF has already supported, including biochar, enhanced rock weathering, ocean alkalinity enhancement, atmospheric methane removal, and glacier-related projects aimed at slowing sea-level rise. They also discussed why robust impact analysis, stakeholder engagement with groups such as indigenous communities and local fishers, and transparent publication of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) results are essential for gaining permits and public acceptance for any serious climate intervention.

Panelists Dr. Peter Carter and Paul Beckwith put these efforts in the wider context of the accelerating climate crisis. More than 1,800 people have viewed the recording since its posting.
